Mammography systems are dedicated low-dose X-ray imaging units used for breast cancer screening and diagnostic workup, with modern platforms offering full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT/3D). Buyers include hospital radiology departments, women's imaging centers, breast surgery practices, mobile screening operators, and ambulatory imaging chains. According to FDA statistics from March 2025, about 92% of U.S. mammogram facilities now have at least one machine that does 3D mammograms , making DBT capability the de facto standard for new procurements rather than an optional upgrade.
